The 2014 AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Crossover of the Year, as chosen by you, is the Jeep Cherokee.

Giving AutoGuide readers and viewers their say to pick the vehicles they think are most deserving in six different categories, the new Jeep Cherokee took top honors in the value packed crossover segment. The new and quirky looking Jeep faced some impressive competition from compact rivals, including the new RAV4 , the Subaru Forester and the Nissan Rogue. The Cherokee even beat out bigger crossovers like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.

Of course, the Jeep also brings a level of capability that isn’t found in many compact crossovers. The Cherokee also brings a new level of technology to the segment as its 9-speed automatic transmission is an industry first.

“When it comes to off-road ability it leaves its rivals in the dust,” said AutoGuide.com contributor Aaron Gold in his first drive of the Jeep Cherokee. “The Cherokee is an impressive package that offers a high-lux interior and lots of optional gizmos, while the Jeep name and unique styling up the cool factor.”
