Porsche has confirmed that the Macan S diesel will be heading to North America after the Macan S and Macan Turbo go on sale in early 2014, though a four-cylinder engine won’t make it to our shores.

Powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine, the Macan S diesel has 258 hp and is based on the engine used in the Cayenne diesel and several Audi models. The single turbo helps the diesel powerplant make 428 lb-ft of torque and it should be good for around 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

In terms of price, the Macan S diesel will likely be less than the Macan S, which means buyers will be able to get themselves a diesel-powered Porsche for less than $50,000. The German automaker also confirmed that the four-cylinder powerplants won’t be heading to North America.
