Jaguar has taken to one of world’s most grueling race tracks to test its upcoming XF model.

Our spy photographers nabbed some shots of the upcoming XF testing on the Nurburgring today. The car is still clad in camouflage, though the design looks like an evolution of the current model and seems to be borrowing some cues from the new XE.

Underneath the skin, a new platform that also supports the XE will be present in the XF, helping the car to shed pounds. Engine options are likely to range from a small turbocharged four-cylinder up to a supercharged V6. Diesel versions will also be available in worldwide markets, while a plug-in hybrid model is expected to join the fleet later on.

Official details on the car’s debut have not been divulged, but watch for the new XF to be revealed at the upcoming LA or Detroit Auto Shows.
