The new aluminum bodied 2015 Ford F-150 was just named the 2015 AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Truck of the Year.

Ford’s new half-ton pickup is u to 750 lbs lighter than the model it replaces thank to its new aluminum body, promising improved fuel economy and capability. The Dearborn automaker is blazing new engineering territory in the automotive industry by offering its highest volume selling with a body made of material that many people wouldn’t have thought to be feasible.

Fittingly for an American pickup truck, the F-150 is available in a long list of configurations including both V6 and V8 powetrains, although Ford plans to sell the majority of its F-Series trucks with its 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6.

Winners in the remaining Reader’s Choice categories include the Jaguar F-Type Coupe for Sports Car of the Year, the Subaru Outback for Utility Vehicle of the Year, the Cadillac Escalade for Luxury Utility Vehicle of the Year, the Mercedes S-Class Coupe for the Luxury Car of the Year and the BMW i8 for the Green Car of the Year.
