Volkswagen is recalling several of its models for a potential fire hazard.

Affecting about 38,000 vehicles in the U.S., the German automaker is advising owners if they smell gasoline inside their vehicles or see an electronic power control warning light to immediately head to their closest Volkswagen dealership to have the fuel system inspected. The recall covers 2014 to 2015 model years of the Beetle, Jetta, Passat and 2015 models of the Golf and GTI.

Earlier in April 2014, Volkswagen recalled vehicles equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine with a torque converter automatic transmission that had faulty O-ring seals that could leak transmission fluid, possibly sparking a fire. It appears that the two recalls are not related, though the models affected do overlap. The automaker will contact all affected owners and will perform the repairs free of cost.
