When it was last tested, the 2013-14 Buick Encore rated ‘poor’ in the small overlap test while the current model managed a ‘good’ rating thanks to a redesigned structure. The Encore and Trax both scored ‘good’ ratings in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests.

The Encore earns a ‘basic’ rating for its forward collision warning while the Trax offers no front crash prevention system.
