Nissan has dropped a pair of new photos showing off the 2016 Maxima.

The car was initially revealed during the brand’s 2015 Super Bowl commercial but the short spot offered only a passing glance of the Maxima. Now we have a full view from the front and rear thanks to new photos.

Details on the car are still in the dark, though all will be revealed at the 2015 New York Auto Show when the new Maxima makes its official debut in April.

Nissan calls the new Maxima its “four-door sports car,” and rumor has it that a sportier model will be part of the 2016 Maxima lineup, using a 2.5-liter supercharged four-cylinder mated to an electric motor for V6-like performance.

    I am not sure why people are comparing this car to Mazda 6 since that car is a mid-size car while the Maxima is a large premium sedan. I think this car looks fantastic and I appreciate the fact that automakers choose not to play it safe and create their own paths in design. Pics does not always do the car justice but have to see it in the flesh; very futuristic looking.

    Once upon a time I was a big Nissan fan. That has changed in the last 10 years or so. I had hopes that the redesigned Maxima would spark a return...I'm disappointed.
