The new Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan – the only version of the hot new A35 that America will be receiving, has made its official debut ahead of the 2019 New York International Auto Show.

The German four-door is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbo that is found under the hood of the A35 AMG hatchback for Canada and Europe. It makes 302 hp and and 295 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters and an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. This setup allows the hot little sedan to scoot from 0-60 mph in 4.7s and reach an undisclosed top speed.

When the road starts winding, the AMG A35 will rely on its optional AMG Ride Control adaptive dampers and standard high-performance brakes, which consists of 4-piston front calipers out front grabbing 13.7-inch discs and 1-piston rear calipers with 12.9-inch discs. A-Class sedan bodyshells destined to be turned into A35s also get a more robust front bulkhead section, an aluminum plate under the engine and two additional diagonal braces at the front of the underbody for more body rigidity.

Another driver-friendly part of the A35 AMG is the new AMG Dynamic Select drive mode system, which includes Sport, Sport+, Individual, Slippery and Comfort drive modes. Mercedes says the drive modes “change relevant parameters,
such as the response of the engine and transmission,” along with the dampers if you have the optional AMG Ride Control system.

The interior is typical Mercedes-Benz, with the automaker’s widescreen MBUX infotainment system sitting front and center. by now you know all about the MBUX system, but the version in the A35 gets some special features, such as the ‘Track Pace’ app, which allows the driver to review their throttle, brake and steering input data from track days, allowing them to visualize where they need to improve. A new AMG steering wheel is also present, while the AMG Performance steering wheel found in higher-end AMG products is available for extra.
