The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 has made its official debut ahead of the 2019 New York International Auto Show.

The CLA 35 AMG doesn’t have very many surprises in store. After all, much of the AMG equipment offered on the sedan was previewed by the A35 AMG hatchback, which debuted last year and will be offered in Europe and Canada, among other markets.

Powering the sedan is the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder as the A35 AMG, which is rated at 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Paired with Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system and a seven-speed DCT transmission, the new CLA 35 AMG will scoot from 0-60 mph in around 4.6s. It also gets the same AMG Dynamic Select drive mode system, which includes Comfort, Slippery, Sport and Sport+ drive modes, along with a customizable Individual mode.

There’s also an optional Adaptive Damping System, which allows the driver to choose between three modes for the suspension, ranging from comfortable to sporty. The system will also operate automatically if the drive does not adjust it “adapting the damping forces for each wheel according to the driving situation and road conditions,” Mercedes says.

Setting the CLA 35 AMG apart from standard versions of the sedan are standard 18-inch AMG alloy wheels (19-inch wheels are optional), a different hood with dual “power domes”, a different front fascia and grille, a rear trunk lip spoiler, a different rear bumper and large dual outlet exhaust tips. The cabin denotes its AMG status with an AMG steering wheel, Dinamica AMG upholstery, contrasting stitching and exclusive AMG themes for the MBUX digital dashboard display.

Mercedes says the CLA 35 AMG will be available in US dealerships starting late 2019. Pricing has yet to be announced.
