Kia’s three-row EV crossover might be priced just right.

A few weeks ago, Kia released the pricing of its base model, single-motor EV9 electric crossover. Now, Kia’s released the rest of the range – the Kia EV9 will come in five different trims, with the topmost maxing out at more than $75,000. The top trim might be pricey, but the lower-trimmed EV9s appear to target the heart of the market.

The very base, single-motor RWD Light trim will be the price leader of the EV9 lineup. Including the destination fee, it starts at $56,395, which gets the buyer 223 miles and a 215-horsepower motor fed by a 76.1 kWh battery. The next trim up, and likely the range leader, will be the Light Long Range RWD, for $60,695. The power is slightly reduced to 201 horsepower, but it gains a 99.1 kWh battery. Kia hasn’t released official range numbers for anything but the base model, but we expect this model to touch 300 miles of range. The Long Range RWD model also gains V2G (vehicle-to-grid) and V2H (vehicle-to-home) capabilities.

The EV9 Wind e-AWD ($65,395) and EV9 Land e-AWD ($71,395) both get substantial power upgrades. These vehicles are powered by a twin-motor AWD setup, generating 379 horsepower. The Land is more luxurious than the Wind, adding niceties like 20-inch wheels, and a 14-speaker Meridian audio system. Finally, the topmost GT-line trim finishes out at $75,395. That version gets unique front and rear fascias, 21-inch wheels, and nifty “relaxation seats”. The seats won’t swivel like the Korean market ones, but they will recline in a way that’s not dissimilar to business-class airline seat.

Pricing may sound expensive, but remember – the Kia EV9 currently sits in a class all alone — a mid-to-full-sized electric crossover. Its fellow three-row contemporaries, at least ones with rear seats that can comfortably seat adults, are all far more expensive. The Rivian R1S, Mercedes Benz EQS SUV, and Tesla Model X all start at prices well above where the Kia EV9 tops out. Canadian pricing hasn’t been released yet, but we hope that it remains as competitive as the United States.

Reservations for the EV9 will open on October 16.
