Imports and European automakers still reign supreme in customer satisfaction.

In the 2014 American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) survey, Mercedes-Benz topped the list with a score of 86 while Subaru followed with 85.

Lexus and Volkswagen were tied at 84 while Toyota, Honda and Buick all scored 83. Rounding out the top 10 with a score of 82 were three automakers: GMC, Kia and Chevrolet.

Overall satisfaction with the industry dropped for the second year in a row, albeit by one point to 82 on a 100-point scale. Of the top 10 brands in the latest study, seven were imports though American brands are narrowing the gap.

The study is based on phone and email interviews with 4,360 customers that purchased light vehicles in the past three years and was conducting from April 22 to May 29. Ranking at the bottom of the survey were Dodge (78) and Acura (77).

Acura was at the bottom, but everyone knows that anyway.

I've owned two Subarus. The cars were great. Two different dealers and both times I was forced to contact Subaru of America HQ to get issues resolved that arose immediately after delivery ... the customer service sucked.
