Apple CarPlay will start to roll out in larger numbers this year.

Apple CEO Tim Cook made the claim at a press conference, also saying that, “every major car brand has committed to delivering CarPlay.” By the end of this year, Cook says that 40 models will be available with the interface. Currently, only Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz vehicles can be bought with CarPlay.

Toyota is the only brand that has explicitly stated that it will stick with its proprietary software, though the Japanese brand admits that it may eventually offer CarPlay and systems like it.

Apple CarPlay allows iPhone users to access phone apps through the vehicle’s infotainment system, which mirrors the iPhone’s display screen.
