Mercedes-Benz’s Audi TT fighter could come as soon as 2019.

Rumors of an Audi TT rival by Mercedes came earlier last month and it is now being reported that the German automaker is currently at the drawing board stage for the 2+2 sports coupe. If the car gets a green light, it will serve as an entry-level model built on the company’s second-generation MFA platform. Even more exciting, an AMG version with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder would have around 400 hp as a range-topping model with standard all-wheel drive.

Autocar reports that Mercedes-Benz Chairman Dieter Zetsche is one of the model’s biggest supporters. Reportedly, it will draw design cues from the new Mercedes-AMG GT. Along with the coupe variant, the German automaker is considering a convertible, which is almost a necessity if it wants to compete directly with the Audi TT.

Never mind what it is being built to do, just give me the car, fitted with a bi-turbo 6.0L V12, all alloy engine, with NO limiter!! This car, fitted with this engine, with a 2.77:1 differential, mated to a 7sp tiptronic gearbox, will easily pass 270mph!!!
