The first prototype for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA has been caught on camera by our spy photographers.

Little is known about the second-generation CLA, but we expect to learn more once the new A-Class makes its official debut. But this is the first time spy photographers have spotted a next-gen CLA prototype testing, and although it’s heavily camouflaged, it appears the four-door coupe will have a rounder roof line, a slightly longer rear overhang, and a longer trunk. The front and rear bumpers are getting restyled, and it looks like the lights up front and in the rear are getting changes.

It’s likely the CLA will continue to follow in the footsteps of the recently unveiled CLS, so expect similar changes to its overall design and styling. Powertrain will likely be shared with the new A-Class, along with the interior.

Recently, Mercedes previewed its next MBUX infotainment system, which will make its production debut in the new A-Class. That means it will follow in the CLA, so the cabin should get a lot more high-tech features for the next-gen model.
