A massive crash has occurred at the start of the 2014 IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

The inaugural event got off to a rough start Saturday afternoon when polesitter Sebastian Saavedra’s race car stalled. While the majority of the field was able to avoid him, Carlos Munoz ran into the back of Saavedra’s car, resting in a huge collision with Mikhail Aleshin. The crash occurred so soon after the start that Mayor Greg Ballard was hit in the elbow by debris as he held onto the green flag that symbolizes the start of the race. The three drivers involved in the crash all walked away from their cars.
