Another round of testing is in order this week, with a fuel-efficiency comparison booked, a big Hemi Ram truck ready for action and a new Lexus coupe all-set for its debut. This is AutoGuide Now for the week of August 25

2014 Toyota Prius cMike Schlee, Road Test Editor:

“This week I’ll be in the subcompact Prius c, arguably the best value in the Prius family. It will be going head-to-head against the Ford Fiesta 1.0-liter ecoboost in a small hatchback battle for fuel efficiency supremacy.”

2014 Toyota Prius PHEV:

“We are putting our general consumer in the 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid vehicle to see if the compromises associated with dedicated hybrids are an issue for someone not familiar with them.”

2015 Volkswagen Lineup:

“I will also be travelling to Virginia to drive the entire line-up of 2015 Volkswagen products. This includes the all-new Golf and GTI as well as the electric powered e-Golf. On hand will be the revised 2015 Jetta and final year of the unloved Eos.”

2014 Ford Fiesta SE 1.0-liter EcoBoostSami Haj-Assaad, Features Editor:

“We all know that hybrids are expensive, so is the frugal and fuel-efficient 1.0-liter EcoBoost-powered Fiesta a valid solution? We’ll match it up against the tiny Prius c to see which one is the winner in terms of pure savings.”

2014 Ram 2500 6.4-liter HEMI V8Stephen Elmer, News Editor:

“Ram has been innovating in the pickup truck segment recently, introducing a number of technologies that its competitors don’t offer. Now, the brand has paired a massive 6.4-liter V8 to its HDs, offering more power than anyone else in the segment when it comes to gas engines. So, is this gasoline big rig good enough to convince buyers to forgo the diesel, or will its poor fuel economy and lack of torque leave it feeling underpowered?”

2015 Lexus RC CoupeCraig Cole, Associate Editor:

“This week I’m heading east to sample the new Lexus RC lineup. The Japanese brand is pushing into the luxury coupe market with this stylish two-door. I’ll be evaluating the standard RC, the up-level RC F-SPORT as well as the range-topping RC F on New York country roads and the track at Monticello. It’s an exciting lineup and that should make for a very entertaining trip. Stay tuned for updates and a nice video as well.”

2015 Porsche 911 GT3Colum Wood, Editor in Chief:

“My ride this week is hot. In fact it was so hot it had to be recalled because it was catching fire, which is why we only now have a test of the outrageous new Porsche GT3. I fell in love with the previous generation car and I’m expecting this new machine will exceed my expectations. . . yes, even without a manual transmission.”
