Apparently no car is safe from getting the limousine conversion treatment, as Imperial Couch Builders has taken the liberty to build a stretched Nissan Leaf limo.

Whether you call it the Toyota GT 86, the Scion FR-S or the Subaru BRZ, as perfect as this new compact sports car is, if there’s one common request to make it even better, it’s that it could use a little more power.

This past Saturday Kia had reason to celebrate as it captured its first victory in the SCCA World Challenge GTS class. But the team had no reason to be complacent, and went on to sweep the weekend, capturing its second win in a row.

With Michael Galati behind the wheel of the number 36 Kia Motors America Kia Optima, the Korean automaker has captured its first series win in the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge GTS competition.

NASCAR driver, Joey Logano is used to his  Toyota Camry he drives in the Sprint and Nationwide series, but he was recently offered some lessons in drifting in the FR-S with Forumla Drift champ, Ken Gushi.

Lexus and driver Ken Gushi are preparing to take on the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year in a IS F CCS-R packing 416-hp and 371 lb-ft of torque.

Team Hot Wheels is getting pretty clever in its viral videos, this time around calling upon Team Blue to take on the Wall Ride test.

Set to take place in Canada, the Scion Tuner Challenge, FR-S Edition, will feature three professional tuning teams with free reign to tweak one of the new sports cars to compete against the other two teams.

One could argue that the F Sport brand hasn’t exactly been a resounding success for Lexus, or at least as much as they had hoped it would have been by now.

But the Japanese automaker is looking to make a push on its performance accessory line, launching a new series titled ‘F Sport Fridays’ in hopes to raise awareness on the brand through videos. Essentially, F Sport Fridays will educate consumers on what F SPORT is, where it came from, and what its goal is.

Unfortunately, F Sport Fridays isn’t exactly the most exciting thing to watch, especially on a Friday. Jeff Koford, Lexus F Sport Performance Manager, does a great job explaining what F Sport is and what it has to offer, but the video lacks the things that would inspire us to run out and buy ourselves F Sport products. So if you’re listening F Sport, showing some real footage of a car testing on the track while explaining about Fuji Speedway would go a long way with your potential consumers.

Toyota’s GT 86, called the Scion FR-S in North America, has been billed from the beginning as an affordable sports car engineered for enthusiasts, so makes sense that the company would offer a list of customization accessories to personalize the sport coupe.

Legally importing in a Nissan Skyline from Japan has always been tricky. There was a time when companies claimed to specialize in the process of importing Skylines, and while it was legal in some states, it was mostly done improperly.

Most SEMA cars are handed out to builders from the automakers knowing that they’ll be crushed at some point in time.

Picture a classic car in your head: likely it’s an American icon like a late ‘60s Mustang or even earlier like a ‘50s Fairlane. Maybe your taste is a bit more exotic and you’re imagining a classic Ferrari or even a British sports car like an MG or Triumph.

Earlier in the month, Nissan kicked off its crowdsourced 370Z project by bolting-on a turbo kit, exhaust, coilovers and big brake upgrade. Now phase two has been completed, as the team continues to build the “ultimate track car.”

Similar to the NASCAR Dodge Charger and Ford Fusion that were revealed earlier this year, Toyota’s newest entry to NASCAR looks to more closely resemble its production model.

Nissan is taking an interesting approach to show off the tuning potential of its 370Z by tasking its Facebook fans with deciding what modifications make their way onto its project car.

There remains to be no official word on a higher-horsepower version of the Scion FR-S, however, those looking for some added cornering performance and style are in luck.

At a recent drive event in Las Vegas (read our Scion FR-S Road Test here) Scion announced a long list of TRD goodies that will be made available for the FR-S, and even has a prototype car on display to show them off. Included in the list of goodies are larger front brakes, performance brake pads, larger sway bars, new springs and shocks, big 18-inch wheels, a TRD exhaust and thicker sway bars.

Also set to be offered as a dealer-installed accessory is the Five Axis aero kit. Five Axis, it should be pointed out, is the same company that designed the original FR-S concept.

Of note, the photos shown here feature a suspension drop much more severe than the TRD springs will deliver and the wheels shown are custom 19s, not the 18-inchers TRD will offer.

Having finished third and ninth place in prior Pro Celebrity races, Adam Carolla was determined to claim the top podium spot at the 36th annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.

Americans haven’t even seen the Scion FR-S in dealerships yet and Japanese tuners are out in Japan crashing the beloved Toyota GT 86 at drift events. 

When a rear-wheel drive car is going anywhere from 60-80 mph and flinging itself sideways, there’s a very good chance it’ll crash sooner or later. That’s part of the appeal of drifting: the inevitable, disastrous crash that is bound to come. Unfortunately this Up Garage Toyota GT 86 might be the first GT 86 to crash in a competition motorsports event piloted by Tetsuya Hibino.

It’s not an overly dramatic crash. In fact, it’s pretty run-of-the-mill when it comes to drifting accidents. But it’s still one of those sights we love to see on video. The cause of the crash is unknown, but given how relatively new the platform is, a suspension parts failure can’t be ruled out but chances are it’s was just overzealous piloting behind the wheel… or just the fact that it’s drifting and they get paid to create excitement.

The fully-decked out drift car shows the potential of what the FR-S / GT 86 can become behind the hands of the right tuners. FIVE:AD in America has already debuted its new  aero kit that looks great for the FR-S.

Sounds too good to be true? Well if you’re a racer the news is probably music to your ears. Recognizing how popular the Civic Si has become in motorsport circles, particularly road racing, Honda Racing displayed a 2012 body-in-white Civic Si at SEMA last year and is now offering them up for $3500 a piece.

Following on from a practice used by other automakers, the body-in-white program is available exclusively to bona fide racers, and enables them to get a basic shell along with suspension, differential, brakes and a toe strap.  It’s then up to them to add the rest such as the engine, gearbox, roll cage, instruments, seat, harness and other necessary equipment.

The Scion FR-S will be heading to U.S. dealerships soon but before consumers even get a chance to drive their cars, a multitude of tuner packages are already prepped for sale.

For example, Japanese tuner TRD already released a full tuning package for the Toyota GT 86 and now American tuners are releasing their goods.

Earlier this year, Scion invited North American tuners to its headquarters to take measurements in order to develop new parts for the sporty coupe. FIVE:AD has been involved with modifying Scions since the automaker arrived on American shores, so it’s no surprise that the company is one of the first in to release an aero kit for the upcoming FR-S.

The four-piece aero kit is based off of the Scion FR-S Concept built by Five Axis and is constructed out of OEM-grade urethane for a perfect fit and finish. Those interested can do so through their dealership to get a new front lip, side skirts, and a rear valence. An optional rear spoiler is available and the dealership can also pre-paint it any factory color for an exact match.

While the Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S has received a lot of attention from aftermarket outfits during the past couple months, things have been rather quiet from the Subaru BRZ end… until now.

Custom builders have been able to create some unique and exciting cars from Toyota’s dull model lineup in the past, so it only stands to reason that amazing things are happening as tuners tinker with the new Scion FR-S.

Rhys Millen Racing has partnered up with Disney XD’s upcoming animated Motorcity series to compete in the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship season in a custom Hyundai Veloster that will be piloted by Stephan Verdier.

It’s not often that a game changing sports car comes out onto the market. The Toyota GT 86 / Scion FR-S is exactly that, and it’s clear that tuners and aftermarket product manufacturers are just as excited for the platform as automotive enthusiasts are.

There’s little to no doubt in our minds that the Scion FR-S will be a huge hit – you can read our review here – and the aftermarket will only make the vehicle better. Tuners in Japan have already been hard at work since they got their hands on the GT 86 earlier than America. But the Scion Racing / GReddy drift Scion FR-S driven by Ken Gushi (pictured above) looks ready to rock into action at the Long Beach season opener.
