Brooklyn Graffiti Artist Paints Jaguar XKR, Ian Callum Approves

British luxury and sports car maker Jaguar is often associated with older clientele. To help break it out of that stereotype, and to attract a younger, hipper audience; Jaguar enlisted the help of a grafitti artist.

Mr. Kaves, who is known for his free-hand style spray paint designs was given a brand new XKR as his blank canvas. The end result is a  Jaguar unlike anything you’ve seen before.

On hand at the unveiling was the man who designed the XKR, Ian Callum, who praised Mr. Kaves for his art work. This might just be a publicity stunt, but it will surely attract an audience that normally would not spend time admiring a Jaguar.

While this might be the latest art car, it is not the first. BMW has had art cars since the 1970’s; and a few years ago, Infiniti presented their G37 coupe art car, which was later sold at an auction for $55,000 (proceeds from which went to ONE DROP, a charity founded by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte).

To get a glimpse of how the Jaguar art car was created, check out the video below.

McLaren MP4-12C GT3 Set for Competitive Race Debut – Video

Earlier this month we caught a glimpse into the new GT3 MP4-12C race car from McLaren and the British automaker has finally announced its 2012 race plans.

In total, 25 MP4-12C GT3 race cars in total will be campaigned throughout Europe and in the 2012 FIA GT1 World Championship. The McLaren MP4-12C race car was also selected to be the safety car for FIA GT1 World Championship race at Nogaro on April 8 and 9.

After an intensive development program in 2011, prototype models of the MP4-12C race car covered more than 35,000 miles on real world and simulated test tracks last year. All that effort went into building a reliable and hopefully rewarding race car for the 2012 season.

There will be 10 MP4-12C GT3s entering the Blancpain Endurance Series while Gemballa Racing and Doerr Motorsport will be competing in the German VLN series, which includes the infamous 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Gemballa Racing will also be competing in ADAC GT Masters with Molitor Racing, while Hexis Racing will take part in the FIA GT1 World Championships.

Apex Motorsport will enter an MP4-12C GT3 in select rounds of this year’s British GT Championship, and Lapidus Racing Team will participate in the International GT Open series and the 24-hour races at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.

The MP4-12C GT3 race car shares the same V8 twin-turbo engine and carbon “MonoCell” chassis found in the road car counterpart.

Fiat 500 Abarth Venom Debuts, Won't Be Sold in America – Video

The Fiat 500 Abarth Venom is the culmination of American and Italian minds working together. Mopar partnered up with Italian parts manufacturer Magneti Marelli to create the Venom variant of the Fiat 500 Abarth model.

The demo vehicle was debuted out in Las Vegas and even had a surprise visit by supermodel Catrinel Menghia that has made her claim to fame in the popular Abarth ads. Between Mopar and Magneti Marelli, the Fiat 500 Abarth Venom features carbon fiber goods for the body – including hood and side mirror housings – that in total drop 200 lbs from the vehicle’s weight. The roof also gets a large scorpion graphic.

Horsepower from the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine gets bumped up by as much as 40-hp (from the stock 160-hp) thanks to a retuned ECU and exhaust system.

Other options include Magneti Marelli 17-inch wheels in black, seats, and upgraded interior trim.

While the Fiat 500 Abarth Venom won’t make its way to America as a complete vehicle, Fiat tuning shops in America are already finding a way to import the parts so that you can build your own. Expect to pay a premium though, Magneti Marelli goods are expensive.

Watch the video – featuring the beautiful Catrinel Menghia – after the break.

Hyundai Uses Hypnosis to Sell Cars

Hyundai is rolling out a new advertising campaign with a twist: the host of the commercials is trying to hypnotize you, right through the computer screen.

These ads are for the Hyundai i30, or as we know it in America, the Elantra. They feature professional hypnotist Peter Powers, who does his best to hypnotize any consumers daring to watch the video. The video features a disclaimer that assures you “Peter Powers has performed the hypnosis with suggestions of a positive and fun nature, a formal procedure for the removal of hypnosis and with no instructions to perform unlawful, negative or unseemly behavior.”

Powers’ sow, calm voice tells us to fall in love with the i30 and that the headlights look like eagle eyes and the tail lights are just like the wind. It is clearly a little bit sensationalized for entertainment, but Hyundai is probably counting on some weak willed people to be enthralled by Peter Powers spell and run out and buy a new i30.

You can see for yourself whether or not the hypnotization works on you by clicking here.

Watch the video below for a preview of exactly how powerful hypnotization can be.
