Brooklyn Graffiti Artist Paints Jaguar XKR, Ian Callum Approves

British luxury and sports car maker Jaguar is often associated with older clientele. To help break it out of that stereotype, and to attract a younger, hipper audience; Jaguar enlisted the help of a grafitti artist.

Mr. Kaves, who is known for his free-hand style spray paint designs was given a brand new XKR as his blank canvas. The end result is a  Jaguar unlike anything you’ve seen before.

On hand at the unveiling was the man who designed the XKR, Ian Callum, who praised Mr. Kaves for his art work. This might just be a publicity stunt, but it will surely attract an audience that normally would not spend time admiring a Jaguar.

While this might be the latest art car, it is not the first. BMW has had art cars since the 1970’s; and a few years ago, Infiniti presented their G37 coupe art car, which was later sold at an auction for $55,000 (proceeds from which went to ONE DROP, a charity founded by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte).

To get a glimpse of how the Jaguar art car was created, check out the video below.

Car Crashes Into Bowling Alley, Facebook to Blame

Far be it from anyone in the AutoGuide office to give romantic advice past what brand of tire shine to buy for your “baby,” but here’s a tidbit: don’t post relationship status on Facebook. It’s stupid.

You might not agree, but the owner of a bowling alley in the U.K., probably does after an angry woman crashed a car into the bowling alley where her boyfriend worked.

As you might have already guessed, the little lover’s quarrel started on Facebook. The woman noticed that her significant other changed his profile from reading “in a relationship” to “single.” Throwing reason and accountability out the window, she drank half a bottle of wine and two “large vodkas” before leaping into her boyfriend’s car and driving like a bat out of hell — right through the alley’s front window.

Thankfully, a security camera recorded her stunt, which racked up a €17,000 repair bill (roughly translated to $22,000).

Oh, the crazy things we do for love. Watch the nonsense after the break.

Study Reveals Spike In Road Fatalities During Tax Day

Nothing is certain but death and taxes. The Journal of the American Medical Association published a study which consisted of researcher Dr. Donald Redelmeier and colleague Christopher Yanell of the University of Toronto comparing the number of fatalities during each tax deadline day to the number of fatalities occurring on regular days. The statistics show that the number of fatal crashes taking place during tax deadline day was 6 percent higher than the control days.

Dr. Redelmeier says, “Tax Day is one of the few opportunities to study societal stress on a widespread basis because it’s synchronized and it’s recurrent throughout an enormously large community.”

A total of 19,541 individuals were killed in crashes during the 30 tax days and 60 control days. Sorting the numbers, Redelmeier’s study revealed that the 30 tax days accounted for 6,783 deaths, or an average of 226 fatalities per day. In comparison, the 60 control days accounted for 12,758 deaths, averaging 213 fatalities a day. Spread over 3 decades, fatalities on tax deadline day account for an additional 404 fatalities.

Land Rover Expedition Visits Soviet Submarine Base [Video]

Celebrating the production of its one-millionth Land Rover Discovery, a Land Rover team treks a 50-day, 8,000 mile expedition from Birmingham to Beijing. A £1 million (GBP) fundraiser is also held to benefit the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, a Global Humanitarian Partner of Land Rover.

Just last week, Land Rover reported on its visit to Chernobyl. This week, the convoy makes a stop at an old Soviet submarine base. Serving as a reminder of Soviet’s Cold War past, the former Black Sea submarine base was one of the Soviet Union’s most protected top-secret nuclear bases during the era.

Carved out from the base of a mountain in the port town of Balaklava on Ukraine’s Crimean coast, the 15,300 sq. ft. facility took 9 years to build. At its peak, the base served as the operation home of the fearsome Soviet Black Sea Fleet, which was signed off by Joseph Stalin in 1953. To protect its assets, the entrance to the mountain base is camouflaged from any spy plane. If targeted, the base is reinforced to sustain a direct nuclear impact, sheltering a max capacity of 3,000 people, providing each with supplies to last for a month.

Now, team Land Rover has been invited to drive through its hidden tunnels and visit its history. Check out team Land Rover’s video of their visit below.

Skoda 'Pimp My Ride' Commercial Features Xzibit

Few true car enthusiasts are able to respect MTV’s Pimp My Ride, but that hasn’t kept it from being a hit with the kids. Big shiny rims and bigger, shinier, TV screens are all it takes to aim a teenybopper’s attention toward a car.

Regardless of the mechanical merit behind the show, or lack thereof, the once-hardcore gangster rapper turned TV personality, Xzibit, quickly became a poster boy for tricked-out transformations. If that image proved one thing since it’s inception in 2005, it’s commercial marketability.

Something about the lowriders of Long Beach and bong-rattling bass that seems to accompany is a recipe for sales success, which is something Volkswagen-owned Skoda Auto of the Czech Republic seems to be aware of.

In one of its latest ads, the automaker features a nerdy-looking white guy pulling up to an obvious imitation of the Pimp My Ride garage called “Czech Coast Customs” and saying “Mr. Xzibit, could you fix my car? Please?”

In seconds, the car is mutilated and dragged out with sparks flying. Then, in typical fashion, Xzibit pulls a cloth off the kid’s new ride, a Skoda Yeti. Watch the commercial below, it’s pretty funny.

'Batman' Lamborghini Police Dash Cam Video Released

Last week a video and pictures of Batman driving a Lamborghini surfaced on the internet, along with photos of him being pulled over by police.

Later that day it came to light that the costumed driver wasn’t a whacko, but in fact a philanthropist on his way to visit children in a local hospital. Despite having the facts, we were still curious to hear the conversation that transpired between the boys in blue and Gotham’s own vigilante.

Finally, we’ve had that chance. The dash cam video surfaced on YouTube today from the cruiser that performed the traffic stop. As we reported last week, the police noticed there weren’t tags on the car and pulled it over.

Before exiting the cruiser, the officer joked with his dispatcher that he might need Robin and backup. A friendly conversation ran its course and after showing all the necessary information the police took a quick shot with the man and sent him on his way.

It turns out that this is the same individual who got a flat tire while dressed as a Lambo-driving Batman last Halloween. You can watch the video of Batman’s latest cop encounter below.
